The Grand Finals of the 2011 Evatt Trophy Competition are currently in progress, with only one resolution not yet debated.
The first resolution on gay rights was passed by the mock Security Council after robust debate. The second resolution on the international illicit drug trade is currently being debated by the delegates, while the third resolution will be released later today for the grand final debate.
Chief Judge, Alec Webley, said that "the grand final is the most intense part of the competition. The delegates are nearing the end, and the debate is fantastic so far."
The national winner for the Competition will be announced later this evening during a final dinner celebrating the efforts of all the delegates.
The Evatt Trophy Competition is Australia's largest and most prestigious national secondary school debating competition, drawing delegate from all state and territories in Australia together to debat global issues in a mock session of the United Nations Security Council. The Evatt Trophy Competition is a flagship program run by UN Youth Australia.
